Santalum album -- yes -- this particular oil is from India - also known as Mysore Sandalwood - form the state of Mysore -- it is very rare these days. We also carry the Santalum Spicatum -- which is from Australia.
Some do not realize why it is so hard to get the album variety.... basically, the Indians have known its value for a very long time, and the harvested tree are best at 80 years old. The varieties out of Australia and Indonesia are noticably younger.... this is change and this world.
So much can be said about the importance of Sandalwood for not only meditation, skin care.. and on and on....It is definately, in my book, one of the highest and most important oils in the collection.
